J.Larry “Block Knowledge”

A Creative Protest in a shape of a music video

A Creative Protest

Working on this music video was my form of protesting during the uprising that occurred after the tragic death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery… and sadly the list goes on. If you know me, you know that I am always at the front line of these marches, but COVID kept inside donating funds and calling law makers to advocate for a change. Then, Jabari Payne aka Jabo, told me about working with J. Larry on a music video about social impact. In a few hours we brain stormed the concept, decided on looks and scouted locations. We shot this video in front of the one of the nine Champs Sneaker Stores that were burnt down across the nation. We implemented a picture frame to pull off an old fashion green screen effect to showcase all the recent and historical moments when people of color stand-up for justice. I was able to shoot using a Black Magic camera and direct.

Behind the Scene video capturing the making of J.Larry’s “Block Knowledge” music video.

These are the scenes I shot using a Black Magic camera. I was able ask the construction crew cleaning up the scene for permission to get up close to the this burnt down Champs Sneaker Store in Tampa, Florida.
